Charleston, SC

For MLK weekend, (well more to celebrate mine and my sister's birthdays)we went to Charleston for the weekend. I love exploring new cities and it is a great time for education for the girls.

No birthday trip would be complete without some sort of cake.

The two birthday girls. We are 7 years and two days apart. I always like to see the surprised look on people's face when they find this out. I am always pegged as the youngest (it is a height thing is my only guess.)

Dragonfly loved her chocolate cake.

Charleston offers a free trolley service which we rode a few times.

Looking down one of the beautiful streets in city.

A view of the water.

The girls found this "seat" on one of the streets.

We walked down one street and end up in a park. There were several people out learning to tight rope walk.

We found a sun dial which was actually accurate.

The girls ran a few laps to get in some good physical training.

We found cannon balls and cannons.

We walked around many streets just looking at gardens and the historic homes. I took pictures of my favorites.

I loved how there was a front door to the porch. I saw this all over the homes in Charleston and just thought it was such a neat concept.

A relaxing hammock with a view.

I wish I could have toured this cute pink house. It is so tiny!

We also looked around the College of Charleston campus. I loved so many parts of this school. It blended right into the rest of the city. This city made for such a wonderful weekend. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. Oh and our hotel had excellent hospitality! (Hampton Inn)

Such BEAUTIFUL pictures! I'm so glad that you had a good birthday weekend with your family. I've never been to Charleston, but this makes me want to visit.

I love you and am glad I got to see you, even if it was just for a bit.
