A friend of Princess Flower gave her this little kitty. She wanted to have a little house for her kitty. This is the little house that she made. The house includes a fireplace, bed, chair, and custom carpet.

Dinner Helper
Ladybug was a wonderful dinner helper. We decided to make our own egg casserole. Ladybug cracked all the eggs, measured the milk, crumbled bread, added cheese and ham and stirred it all together. I chopped up potatoes and placed it in the oven to bake. Ladybug served and helped clean up dinner. She was so excited to make dinner!

Protecting Paper Dolls
Dragonfly and I found Kai Lan paper dolls. Dragonfly loves Kai Lan and her magnet dolls so I thought these would be fun for her. I knew I had to do something so they didn't get ruined. I certainly knew I needed to when as I am punching them out of the book Dragonfly ripped one of the things.

Dinner Helper
The girls each have a night during the week that they help with dinner. I used to just let anyone who wanted to help jump in but that became to much and I was a little overwhelmed with where all the little hands were going. Now, I have more concentrated time with each girl to really teach them all that goes into preparing dinner. They help with cooking dinner, setting the table, and cleaning up. Here is Dragonfly helping make veggie soup. It was suppose to be chili but it absolutely slipped my mind to soak beans. Oh well, this is the advantage of a well stocked kitchen...we can just switch gears. Dragonfly did a great job pouring all the ingredients into the crockpot.

Being a Big Sister
I love my girls. I love that they truly care about one another and about teaching their younger sisters how to do things. Today my bigger girls had a half-day of school which I just loved. My girls came home and weren't exhausted. We were able to talk and get things done at home that we just can't do when they are at school all day.
During the summer, we are rarely found wearing socks. Well we prefer to go without shoes too! During the winter, its another story. By the end of the winter there are a lot of socks that need to be matched up. So we always take a day and sort and match up each of the pairs. This time Ladybug wanted to have the job. She took it upon herself to show Dragonfly which piles to put each sock in. They divided them into colors and then I showed Ladybug how to fold the socks together. It was so sweet to see Ladybug teaching Dragonfly. She was so patient with her and they had a good time together. This is how things should be, older sisters teaching their younger ones. This is why homeschooling is so important. It allows time for a family to grow together and support one another.
It has been hard to miss these experiences this year but I know we will be a better family by going through the challenges of this year. Summer will be extra special!!!

Celebrating Green
Today I based Dragonfly's lessons around the color green. She started with a green collage.
She still needs help cutting so I made lines for her to follow.
The finished product.
Blowing the green whistle.
I put together a bunch of green items for Dragonfly to sort.
Sorting with our special green tongs.
Green eyedropper fun.
I also gave dragonfly some spoons. I love that she realized right away that the eye dropper filled the caps much quicker.
Then she tried pouring from the caps into the bottle.
That led to stacking the caps.
Playing with minty green play dough.

Issues with Homework
I am not sure what is the best way to get homework accomplished. I prefer for there not to be any schoolwork after 2pm but that doesn't work well when kids schoolwork is controlled by others. Ladybug and Butterfly have a worksheets and a book to read each night. Butterfly also has spelling words to study. I am challenged each afternoon because LAdybug is demonstrating what my girls would rather do when they get home.
They are just plain worn out.

Princess Flower's Art
PF has art this week. Her teacher has a lot of extra fabric and she allowed PF to take some fabric home. PF had a plan and wanted to make an art board. I found a board for her when she got home and we covered it with the fun fabric she came home with. PF thinks it is eye popping! She is so excited to be able to display her art and not have it hiding in a notebook anymore. I am sure the board will be covered by the end of the week. Displayed now is a PF's version of Starry Night painted by Van Gogh. This is her favorite artist.
Dragonfly shows off her moves too
Dragonfly thought the videos of her sisters were so funny that she wanted to make her own dance video. She also wanted to show off some of her gymnastics moves.

Activities for March
March is a fun month to remember how awesome it is to be Irish! Not that I think rainbows, gold, leprechauns, or four leaf clovers are really "Irish" things. I got a few activities prepared tonight. PF really wanted to help as well so I let her come up with some trays for her sister.
Sensory bin (PF made the rainbows)
Clover clothes pins
Clover counting
By PF: Line the Four leaf Clover with beads. I great fine motor skill.
PF's color matching game.
PF's counting game. You can also match the numbers.
PF's Pot of Gold activity. First place a clothes pin on the pot then place the correct number of gold pieces into the pot.

I really enjoyed seeing how creative PF could be with these activities. I literally just put all the materials she could use out on the table and she went for it. Before I looked through all the pictures, I thought she was doing all counting activities but as I was looking through the pictures, I realized she hit on all the basic areas that Dragonfly needs right now. I love having creative children!
