Crafts and Fun

The holiday season is such a fun time. I love being able to make fun crafts with the girls or make a special treat. This year, I have been enjoying having the Stewarts living near by again so we can have fun with them as well. Tracy and I found a fun advent craft at hobby lobby and we took advantage of this relaxed week to get it done. While we were busy, we had activities for the kids to do. It was also such a beautiful day that the kids spent alot of time outside.

 PF and Cami made an awesome turkey treat for everyone to enjoy for snack.

This is my finished project. Not sure yet what I will be putting in it but looking forward to the last month of the year.

Outdoor Skills

 PF had the opportunity to get together with the American Heritage Girls to work on outdoor skills. She got to learn many different knots, use a hatchet, dig a cat hole, and build a shelter. I came to help with food. Dinner was delicious steak, potatoes, and salad. We also had cupcakes to celebrate one of the girl's birthday. PF spent the night and enjoyed playing games with the other girls. I proceeded home to sleep in my own bed. I am not sure I can handle the floor right now.

Rubber Stamping

In Keepers, we are working on rubber stamping. The girls have been making many cards. The first night we used a combination of stamp pads and markers on the stamps. The second night the girls only used markers. I think they like all the different choices they had with the markers.

Apple Turnovers

One of my favorite treats lately has been apple turnovers. You can't just buy them sugar free....well as far as I have found. So I have been making them myself at home. I am sure anything homemade is better than store bought anyway.

PF wanted to learn how to make them so I gave her a few instructions and she was off. She made two mini ones for herself. She did a great job and they were delicious.

Oh and as an extra treat, I make my own whip cream with a dash of cinnamon to go with it...yummy!

American Heritage Girls

 The girls' uniforms and books are finally in. They were so excited to wear them to their meeting today.

 At today's meeting, PF was part of a play to tell the life of Harriet Tubman. She was a slave child brought out of slavery on the underground railroad.

 The girls attempted to paint their faces with cocoa to make themselves darker. It didn't end up working very well.

The play was short and well done.
