Upward Soccer
By 9am the sky was dark but it wasn't raining. Butterfly and PF had 9am games. Butterfly was most excited to have Grammy watch her play.
I love that all the players are introduced and run through a tunnel of screaming parents.
Hubby and I are sideline instructors and keep our kiddos focused on what they should be doing. Hubby got to play coach for one quarter because the coach had to leave. Butterfly and PF had a great first game and then the sky opened up. We all ran to the car and knew the other two games weren't going to happen. To distract everyone, we headed to Blockbuster and rented movies to watch the rest of the day. It wasn't until bedtime when Dragonfly was getting into pjs that she realized that she didn't play soccer yet..."but mom, I didn't play soccer yet."

Homemade Icecream
It was a warm day so the ice cream was a perfect treat. The girls were super excited that I had four cones in the pantry for them to have their ice cream in. This picture just makes me laugh when I see what the girls choose to wear. Half are still in pjs and Butterfly is wearing one of Dragonfly's outfits. I guess it is a great benefit to them that they are homeschooled and can on most days dress very comfortably.

Pick and Draw
Our art for today was this game. We had the best time with it. There were many giggles when each new card was turned over. We each created our own character and then we made a few collective faces where we each added a different part to the face. This was a game that even dragonfly could do very well playing.
Games
In preparation to move, I have been going through everything. While going through the closet where I keep all our educationally related items, I found some games that we hadn't used yet. I decided to make it a point to play then today after the girls got done with their school work. The first one we played was a Fancy Nancy go fish. Ladybug was cracking me up by standing throughout the whole game.

Today's Work
Today the girls are working hard to get all their work done. It is suppose to be warm and sunny so we all want to spend time outside after lunch. Pf is working on astronomy learning about Pluto. Butterfly is working on money flash cards practicing how to count money. Ladybug is coloring a penguin for her animal worksheet packet. Dragonfly is working on Explode the Code. Just two more reading lessons and grammar for the middle girls for today and they will be done. Pf plans to get a few more things done today. She is excited right now because she has the possibility of being finished with sixth grade next week.

Stuffed Animal Zoo
The girls are studying about different animals around the world. They have just finished learning about animals of North America. To go along with their animal theme, I set up cages for the girls to create a zoo with their stuff animals. Dragonfly has gotten started. My plan is for the girls to pick an animal for each cage and then create a habitat for each animal.
Upward Basketball Celebration
PF had a great time playing basketball. She improved so much this year. She literally started knowing nothing about basketball. The celebration was a lot of fun and they brought in a family comedian to entertain all of us.

Laundry
I love when I discover new ideas. I found this idea on pinterest this morning and since I had everything to put it together, I did right away. Thanks to KK, I had mini clothes pins. We have created several things with felt lately so I made great use of scrap pieces. Pf found a small basket we could use for the clean clothes. Dragonfly sat and hung some clothes until she got frustrated with the clothes pins. This is going to be a great activity to build her fine motor skill and build up the muscles in her hand/fingers.
March Focus
I am always looking for ways to improve the girls learning experience. Since the beginning of the year we have been focusing on just a few subjects at a time. Math, phonic, and spelling were the focus for January and February. Butterfly was able to complete the Beta level book and ladybug made it to lesson 24. They both finished level B in their spelling book. Butterfly finished all the Explode the Code books and Ladybug completed through book 5. We will continue to review spelling and math but they won't be the focus of March. For this month, we will be focusing on science, grammar and writing. The plan is to finish Animals, Astronomy, and second grade grammar. Reading, piano, Bible memory and random fun remain part of every day.
